Photonics Finland visits Materize to explore possible collaborations and projects

May 19, 2022

Materize team hosted Photonics Finland delegation at University of Latvia, Institute of Solid State Physics, which included representatives of Photonics Finland, University of Eastern Finland, Aalto University, Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and high-tech laser company Optogama.

The visit started with an introduction from our director Andris Anspoks, which was a great opportunity to get to know each other face to face as well as understand the expertises of each institution. After that the delegation got a tour through our Nanotechnology centre and its 650 m2 large cleanroom (ISO 4 to ISO 8).

The Photonics Finland delegation was impressed with the state-of-the-art equipment and expertise for nano and micro fabrication and some participants expressed a strong interest in the usage of the newest equipment in our cleanroom. The visit continued with a tour through our modern Laboratory of Spectroscopy, where our guests appreciated the high-class equipment, for example, the Cary 7000 spectrophotometer. The meeting ended with a positive discussion and the goal to find synergy for potential collaborations and projects in the future. To further strengthen our relationship with the photonics industry in Finland Materize will travel to Tampere, Finland, in September to attend Optics and Photonics Day 2022.
